Donkey Kong Country Returns (Video Game)

This is a quick review without my nostalgia goggles:

Pros:

+ Amazing gameplay: The controls are really smooth and although you are only limited to the "wii remote" and "with nunchuck" controls, the game plays flawlessly, specially with the nunchuck.
+ Incredible level design: Most levels are very clever, they are a step ahead of you and I always liked that, specially coming from a DK game. I really love the fact that this element was left intact.
+ Challenging: Veteran gamers of DK games will not be disappointed. The game packs a somewhat high difficulty almost similar to the originals. However, you now have to get hit twice before you die (or 4 times if you have Diddy). And even with this new "life system" the game will manage to make you lose. Casual gamers should not get scared though, the game offers a vast amount of extra lives and an item that increases the amount of hits DK can receive. One warning though, stay away from the extra levels located almost at the end of some worlds. These levels are really challenging.
+ Long levels: On average, I think every level last around 5 to 8 minutes or probably even more. It's easy lose track of time while playing this game. Prepare to lose a whole week and probably even more with this game.
+ Great sound: Old tunes are back and will put a huge smile in your face once you heard how well remixed they are. It also contains some new tunes that are alright, but not as catchy as the classic DK tunes. These new tunes also try to capture the essence and style of older DK sounds and they succeeded in doing so.
+ High replay value: Collecting simple things has been a major factor in DK games and this game is no exception to the rule (except for the 64 version which took collecting stuff to a whole new level).

I purchased this game for my 6 year old son after seeing a commercial for it on TV. It seemed like a fun, easy game that children of all ages could play.
About 5 minutes after putting it into the Wii, my son had to hand the remote to my husband because the game was too difficult. Turns out my husband had a tough time with it as well. The part where you're flying and trying to shoot down the other aircrafts is very hard for younger kids.
There are a few parts where my son could go forth by himself, but with great aggrivation.
The UP game is now sitting on the shelf, after an hour of play time. And neither my son, nor my husband have any incling to pull it back out.
I would definately not reccomend this game to anyone.
I did, however, give it 2 stars, as the graphics are very good and the characters have a good sense of humor when they speak.

This is a great title to own if you are just buying a new Nintendo Wii with Mario Kart Wii Bundle. If you have never owned a Wii before and are buying a new Nintendo Wii with the Mario Kart Wii Bundle then this is one of the must own family games.

When I started to play the game it was hard. But after a couple hours of playing you can pick up on the controls pretty easily. After you know the controls the game is a little bit easier. Thay have different levels for when you get better and better. Legendary plays are harder to get and they have more legendary plays than the bigs 1.They even have a season maode on the bigs 2 which is the same as the 2009 mlb season. People of all ages would like this game. I would suggest buying this game to a friend.

I like to shop Amazon to save money. But this is one item I have found you can pick up at Wal-Mart or Hastings for about $130.00. Now keep in mind other that the DSI XL. The last system I bought was the PS2. But I am amazed at all this system does. It kinda turns your TV into a smart TV. The one thing I really do like is you can use it with the Amazon instant video channel to play your Amazon unbox videos on your tv, which has brought me back to watching movies and tv shows I had bought some time ago. The console includes 2 games on 1 disc WII sports and WII sports resort which combined give you about 18 games to play. I havent tried them all but I have tried a few of the games. So I feel it is a nice starter kit. Also Comes with a WII motion plus remote and a numchuck. I am well pleased with this purchase.

This is a cheap imitation of a Nintendo item. I was quite happy to find it for half the price of the original. It looks very similar, but does not work as well. This item is meant as an add-on for the main Wii remote controller to enable certain games. The main problem is that the "Z" button on this unit malfunctions: sometimes it does not respond when pressed; sometimes it responds, but than spontaneously releases (despite the finger pressing on it). That makes games like Archery completely non-playable. In addition, even when it seems to work, it responds very slowly to the movement, which is rather annoying.
A curious note: it comes with the product insert and instructions for the main remote controller, which list all the items that "are included" (but are not) and says not a word about the Nunchuk. I was unpleasantly surprised to see amazon selling this. The item is very cheap and adding it to my cart earned me free shipping. Otherwise, I would have been seeking a full refund instead of stashing it in the old toys box.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Video Game)
By LucasArts

If you haven't played the original Star Wars LEGOs series (based on the Episodes I-III and IV-VI.) YOU WILL LOVE IT! Whether you just love LEGOs, Star Wars or if you're a fan of both, it is sheer fun!. The settings are either terrific cartoon replicas of the lego sets or the movie ones. The sound and music FX is spot on and the story links are consistently funny tributes to both franchises. I find the animators' ability to retell Lucas' stories without ANY dialogue from ANY characters, remarkable. The game contains multiple chapters and subchapters easily breaking the movies into neat saving checkpoints, collecting LEGO studs for purchasing characters, extra features and special abilities. The replay options are large thanks to "Story Play" modes which unlock the chapters for later "Free Play" modes in which you can return to the adventures as the characters of your choosing or making with the "mix-n-matcher" in the Cantina.

If you have played the original Star Wars LEGO series before, "The Complete Saga" is even worth replacing your copies the earlier separate releases. The Wii remote play is pretty cool, if somewhat limited. The only disappointment was discovering the "building" control motions didn't make it into game play (check-out the controller instructions booklet for more). There are more secrets and levels to make it interesting for LEGO vets.

The most notable treat that, in my humble opinion, makes the game easily worth it's price is hidden in the bonus room: a game trailer for LEGO INDIANA JONES and it unlocks the INDY character for Star Wars Free Play! I can't wait for the Summer release!

Trauma Center: New Blood (Video Game)
By Atlus

I am a huge Trauma Center fan. I have played Trauma center: Second opinion and loved it! When I heard that Atlus was developing a sequel, I had to buy it as soon as they released it! This game was not a disappointmentat all. The first time I played it, I couldn't believe how much better it was than Second Opinion! It was astounding! Here's a brief overview of the game.

OVERVIEW:

This game takes place 10 years after the events that occured in Trauma Center: Second Opinion, which took place in the year 2018, when medical terrorists were using a virus called GUILT (Gangliated Utrophin Immuno Latency Toxin)to terrorize people all over the world. And a doctor named Derek Stiles, who was gifted with the Healing Touch, had to stop the Virus and cure its victims. Now, in New Blood,10 years later in 2028, there is an even greater threat at hand. Its name is Stigma. It is a very deadly pathogen that was discovered and released into the public by accident. Now, two very talented Alaskan surgeons (named Markus Vaugn and Valerie Blaylock) with the Healing Touch must stop Stigma and save people's lives before they become victims of Stigma Themselves. The tension is on as they preform life- saving operations, in hopes that they can accomplish their mission.

PROS AND CONS

PROS:
This game has really good graphics. A lot better that Trauma Center: Second Opinion. You actually feel like you are operating on someone. The graphics are so lifelike, and there is also the classic Japanese anime- style art involved too.

Awesome gameplay and storyline: This game has a truly gripping storyline that will keep you coming back for more! I could not stop playing it because there was drama and danger around every twist and turn.
